I had the exciting opportunity of being part of the development and launch of a ‘Wedding Planner’ for Amanda Wakeley, a successful and well-established Fashion Designer. We wanted to rid ‘brides to be’ of the burden of heavy folders and paper cuttings, so we set to work to develop a fully comprehensive digital wedding planner tool allowing brides to plan every element of their wedding in one place.
As development continued we decided to incorporate a bespoke website and supporting iPhone application, which enables brides to have a dedicated online hub for all the information they desire, as well as an ‘on the move’ iPhone app to snap and upload any items they wish to consider for their big day. A very convenient and easy to manage tool for the modern bride.
You can plan everything from your guestlist and venue to bridal calendar and chosen dresses. What’s more, you can even monitor your budgets as you progress! The iPhone app replicates all information input into the website exactly, so you have all the information you need at your fingertips. A useful feature for appointments and dress fittings, for example.
Additionally, this wedding planner allows you to share certain features of your wedding with your friends and bridal party, so you can get feedback about wedding dresses and venues to help you with those difficult decisions. The Bride and Groom with has various security settings within their planner so they can share as much or as little as they like, effectively enabling a ‘shopping by community’ experience.
A nice bit of Star Wars stop motion from Patrick Boivin. Look out for Jabba!

Google have been testing new background colours for their Adwords ads again. Google changed from their usual blue background to a yellow back in 2007 which is what we see predominantly today in the SERPs.
This week it seems to have moved to a pink colour…which does really differentiate the paid-for adverts at the top of the page.
This is something Pod1 Advertising we will be keeping and eye on and overlaying on our reporting to see if it has any impact on the CTR’s for our ads.
One of my favourite ad campaigns the Carling ‘you know who your mates are’ have been showing ‘live’ score ads after the World Cup Games. A variation on the original ‘round‘ ad with the guy trekking across the dessert to get his mates a round.
My favoutite from the ‘you know who your mates are’ campaign
Very clever and unique banner ad campaign from Uniqlo to promote end of season sales. The campaign fostered both blog & customer relationships and had unprecedented success.
Great to see this sort of activity on the net again…more please!
An article of mine was published in New Media Knowledge about Behavioural targeting. You know, the thing that stops you dead in your tracks when you suddenly see that lovely pair of denims all over the net you’ve been looking at a few days ago on that website. Some stumble over Banana Bags as well.
The article in NMK is currently free to view: Behavioural targeting – Is big brother watching you?
