Bug and issue tracking at Pod1

We’ve switched to a new bug and issue tracking tool at Pod1 this week, called Jira. It offers all sorts of enhancements over the product we used before, and will allow us to manage and monitor all our technical work a lot more efficiently. I was very impresed by the support team at Atlassian, who helped us with the move and have worked around the clock to make sure our migration from old system to new system went smoothly.

Our plan is to bed in the new system for a week or two and then to start using some of the smarter features to provide more information and greater transparency to our clients, to prioritise and manage our work more efficiently, and ultimately Jira will be an important part of our PCI compliance regime as well.

We’ll also be rolling out Confluence soon, which is Jira’s companion product and provides a very smart extranet platform. This will improve our collaboration with our clients and each other a lot, and the people we’re testing it with on a small scale are already enjoying the benefits.

Using these services is also giving us access to all sorts of information about how another successful online business works, and I’m sure that will benefit us and our clients too.

The geeks are  excited.
